LioniX is a leading provider in co-development of products and manufacturing of components based on cutting-edge micro/nano technology for its (OEM) customers. Our core technologies are integrated optics, microfluidics and optofluidics, including surface functionalization. LioniX also provides MEMS foundry services. Besides prototyping LioniX offers small and medium volume manufacturing and the transfer to high volume manufacturing.
LioniX developed its own proprietary integrated optical waveguide technology called TriPleX™. TriPleX™ waveguides form a new class of integrated-optical planar lightwave circuits using low-cost, CMOS-compatible fabrication equipment. The waveguides are based on LPCVD processing of alternating Si3N4 and SiO2 layers.
LioniX has a proven track record in the development and manufacturing of customized microfluidic chips and systems. Our technologies have a perfect match to today’s needs for new products in life sciences, chemical analysis and synthesis, pharmaceutics, food, diagnostics, industrial process control as well as space-applications.
Optofluidics has its roots in microfluidics and integrated optics, two disciplines in which LioniX has strong historical knowledge and technology roots. LioniX strongly believes that integration of optical detectors in microfluidic analytical systems brings functional and economic advantages, a typical example of the mathematical incorrect expression 1 + 1 = 3.
LioniX uses advanced micromachining technologies to fabricate MEMS and other 3-dimensional structures in 100 mm silicon, silicon on insulator (SOI) and various glass substrates.
To develop new reliable, efficient and functional micro- and nanoscale devices, control over the surface properties is essential. In the emerging field of micro- and nanotechnology device structures become smaller and smaller every day. As a result the relative surface area exposed increases rapidly and surface properties start to seriously affect the performance of a device.
