LioniX and NKT Integration form manufacturing alliance for Integrated Optics
NKT Integration, a leading independent planar waveguide wafer foundry, and LioniX, a leading provider of solutions based on optical microsystem technology and MEMS, have established a collaboration, under which NKT Integration will provide its foundry services to support LioniX in its development and manufacturing of integrated optical solutions for its customers.
As the applications of integrated optics based on silica-on-silicon and SiON-on-silicon Planar Lightwave Circuits (PLC) proliferate within especially the telecom and sensor markets, an increasing need for outsourcing of wafer fabrication arises. Foundry services, as provided by NKT Integration, give customers access to installed volume capacity and technology leadership at a strongly reduced cost, and allow a company like LioniX to focus its resources on developing advanced, customized solutions for its customers.
