Press ReleaseEnschede, The Netherlands and Aliso Viejo, USA - April 1, 2004 LioniX B.V. appoints NanoSciences, Inc. as a representative for the US LioniX - a leading provider of development, production and supply services in integrated optics and microfluidics, has appointed NanoSciences, Inc as their representative in the United States of America. LioniX is a manufacturer of microsystems for OEM customers, based on integrated optics and microfluidics. LioniX provides design, prototyping, and manufacturing of microsystems and specializes in optical planar waveguides for Telecom and lab-on-a-chip/sensor applications for high added value, innovative components and (sub)systems for applications in Telecom, Industrial Process Control, Life Sciences and Space. For example its proprietary siliconoxynitride (SiON) technology is suitable for the manufacturing of telecom components. SiON is compatible with active waveguiding materials (such as ZnO) and has the advantage of generating small sized planar waveguides, so reducing component costs. LioniX also offers assembly and packaging e.g. fiber-to-chip coupling. Its 'design for manufacturing' strategy of microsystems reduces time to market and project costs. NanoSciences, Inc. provides its clients and customers with advanced tools, technologies, and materials specifically focused on micro- and nanoscale applications. It’s co-founder and Vice President of Business Development, Jim Clements, has over 25 years of experience in business development and the global commercialization of early-stage and emerging technologies; including MEMS, BioMEMS, labchips, modeling & simulation software, and nanomaterials. The management team at NanoSciences Inc. has broad experience in both the life science and material science sectors, and includes the successful global launch of several new biomedical devices, an on-line environmental bio-monitoring system, and the commercial development of a new nanomaterial that won the R&D 100 Award as one of the year’s best commercial innovations. Jim Clements states, 'We are extremely pleased and very excited about this new relationship with LioniX, and with their existing U.S. representative, JayWalker Technical Consulting. The ‘design for manufacturing’ approach that LioniX has established will be a key factor in developing complete systems, along with better service, for our customer base. LioniX’ innovative vision, together with JayWalker’s technical expertise, has created a powerful engine to help drive new manufacturing strategies in both MST & MEMS based products.’ ‘We look forward to a long and successful partnership between NanoSciences, JayWalker Technical Consulting, and LioniX'.
