MATAS: Modular microfluidics
Modular lab-on-a-chip systemsLioniX invented the MATAS*) technology platform to integrate microelectrofluidic components into microelectrofluidic systems. The MATAS technology is particularly useful for applications in microreactor-technology, proces control etc. Using a microfluidic platform like MATAS minimises time to market and development costs because customised systems can be made with standard components. The fluidic infrastructure of MATAS systems is laid out in customised glass, silicon or stainless steel baseplates which channels ranging from 10 micrometers to 1 mm. Modules like microreactors, mixers, flow sensors, pressure sensors or (bio)chemical sensors etc. are assembled onto the channelplate by means of viton® or kalrez® O-rings. The modules and the baseplate are supported by a PCB, on which electronics for dataprocessing and control can be housed. Fluid connections are made by convenient PTFE tubings or alike. MATAS distinguishes itself from other microfluidic platforms by:
