Chips for Capillary Electrophoresis

Thanks to the unique possibilities of microtechnology, on-chip capillary electrophoresis (CE) enables a number of niche applications where extreme fast analysis (< 1 min) is required. Moreover, complex liquid handling procedures like autocalibration or reconditioning of capillaries is possible by the fabrication of liquid junctions and crossings, and voltage switching between channels. Typically, on chip CE is suited for field-applications (e.g environmental monitoring) or diagnostic tools outside the laboratory.

LioniX offers low-cost fabrication of custom CE-chips, based on your design specifications. Among other possibilities, we fabricate chips in borosilicate glass or fused silica for better UV transparency. Microfluidic chip technology is mainly based on deep RIE etching, wet etching and wafer bonding technologies. We also integrate Pt electrodes for electrochemical detection of cations and anions.

Capillary electrophoresis systems and applications based on our CE chips are marketed through Capilix.
