CoreCom’s main aim is to perform research into the advanced domain of optical processing and switching applied to the optical communications networks of the future. CoreCom (Consortium for Researches in Optical Processing and Switching) is a research institution established on June '95 between Politecnico di Milano University and Pirelli Cables and System S.p.A.

Involvement of LioniX

LioniX acts as a supplier of SiON technology with an index contrast value of ~6%. Important parameters are refractive index control, ridge dimensions, channel attenuation and channel birefringence.

With this relatively large index contrast value very small devices as coupled ring resonators can be defined, which can be thermally tuned.

LioniX used its preferred PECVD SiON equipment for fabrication of these waveguides.
