Flow sensors

Bronkhorst High-Tech is a manufacturer of flow and pressure controllers for gasses and liquids.

Managing director Jouwsma: "Our customers demand the latest technology, the most sophisticated techniques. If you can't offer that they go elsewhere. It's a matter of taking the lead in technology. But you need knowledge to do that, and you need to open up new technological horizons; experimental technology, sometimes. Such research is high-risk, and you need to find a way to access the right expertise."

Involvement of LioniX

Lionix was one of the partners in a co-operationship by Senter (dutch ministry of economic affairs) in which Bronkhorst developed a new generation of liquid- and gasflow sensors.

Jouwsma: "Advantage of working with a company like LioniX is that they have a close relationship with the university. They manage to make things in microtechnology which are actually impossible, absolutely front-end technology. The result for Bronkhorst is a consolidation of the turnover and a strengthened competitative position, on the long run as well."
